Sacred Seeds of Consciousness
Rudraksha beads are highly revered as the tears of Shiva — said to connect the wearer directly to the source of existence and to pure consciousness.
According to the ancient Vedic scriptures, Rudraksha beads were formed from the tears (Aksha) of Lord Shiva (Rudra). For thousands of years they have been used by yogis, saints, sages and mystics across India, Nepal, China and wider Asia — for balancing the mind and emotions, creating the ideal conditions for meditation, and bringing about positive transformation in every area of life.
The Rudraksha seed is a blessing to keep and wear. Its powerful vibration protects against all kinds of negative influences and energy — including the stress and radiation emitted by modern technology. It keeps the body’s bioenergy in balance and harmonises the environment around the wearer, with its protective radiance extending up to 100 metres.
You will notice a sense of peace, and after some time, fewer disturbances within your environment. This is extremely beneficial for meditation, study and any activity requiring deep focus. Ideally, Rudraksha is worn at all times or kept close to the skin — a sacred seed that enables the wearer to achieve their greater potential.
Protection
A shield against negative energies, psychic disturbances and harmful influences from environments, situations or people
Meditation
The only seed that absorbs and stores positive energy, magnifying it over time through mantra repetition and daily practice
Healing
Stabilises the heartbeat, lowers blood pressure, calms the nerves and induces the “relaxation response” — the ultimate goal of meditation
Emotional Balance
Releases the wearer from fluctuating emotions and the influence of planetary constellations, creating inner harmony and calm
Energy Cocoon
Creates a cocoon of your own energy, harmonising any environment so you feel comfortable, relaxed and free to express yourself
Prosperity
When energies function well, prosperity follows naturally. Rudraksha supports balanced living, which allows abundance to flow into every area of life
In meditation, the Rudraksha mala is held in the right hand. One mantra is repeated per bead, implanting in the seed the vibration of liberation — which is then carried at all times, regardless of where the mind may wander.
The longer a Rudraksha is worn and used for meditation, the more powerful it becomes — constantly emitting a pure vibration that settles the energy of any environment and neutralises disruptive influences. After some time, the wearer feels that something is missing when it is not worn. This is the sign of a deep and living connection between you and your mala.
The planetary constellations exert subtle yet powerful influences on our emotions and lives. It is well known that full moon periods coincide with heightened emotional intensity — for a spiritual person, this energy can be harnessed for transformation if directed wisely.
There are many moments when we lose control of our emotions and reactions without understanding why. To harmonise the energy within and protect against the changeable nature of the world and cosmos, yogis have always encouraged the wearing of Rudraksha. It gradually releases the wearer from emotional volatility and creates a steady inner calm.
To be gifted a Rudraksha is a great blessing and a sign of good fortune.
Traditionally, Rudraksha beads are strung together as a mala of 108 beads plus one — the Bindu or guru bead. The Bindu is essential: without it, the energy becomes cyclical. It channels the energy back into the mala and gives the benefit of its accumulated positive vibration to the wearer. A Rudraksha mala is something that can and should be worn at all times.
Panchmukhi — The Five-Faced Rudraksha
The number of natural faces (mukhis) a Rudraksha bead can have varies from one to twenty-one, each carrying different properties. The five-faced Panchmukhi is safe and beneficial for everyone — it promotes general wellbeing, health and inner freedom. It lowers blood pressure, calms the nervous system and brings a state of alertness and calm that is the foundation for a balanced life.
Among the most well-known studies on Rudraksha is the research published by Dr. Suhas Roy of the Indian Institute of Technology in Banaras. His findings confirmed that the healing properties of Rudraksha beads stem from their electromagnetic characteristics. When placed over the heart, they act to stabilise the heartbeat through the principle of Dynamic Polarity — the natural magnetic field created by blood circulation. In essence, Rudraksha beads help induce the “relaxation response” that is the ultimate aim of meditation.
Traditionally, malas were handled by people who held it as their sacred duty — and this is how we continue at Shivoham. For generations, these families offered Rudraksha to seekers as a spiritual service. But as demand has grown, commerce has entered the space, and authenticity has become a serious concern.
Today in India, another seed called badraksh — which is poisonous and grows extensively in Uttar Pradesh — is widely sold as authentic Rudraksha. To the eye, both seeds appear identical. Only if you hold one in your hand with sensitivity will you feel the difference. This impostor seed is cheaper and more readily available, but it should never be worn on the body.
It is essential that you source your Rudraksha from a trusted origin — an ashram, a holy person, or directly from the Himalayas. Every Shivoham Rudraksha comes from a single reputed family who has, for generations, sourced, cleaned and shared these sacred gifts from Nepal. Our extensive processes and blessing ceremony ensure the reverence from Shiva to you is honoured and maintained.
For those walking the spiritual path, every support matters. Rudraksha is one of the most powerful tools available.
