Moonga Mala, the Mala of Mars
This is the sacred mala of Mangal, the planet Mars, crafted for the one whose chart calls for the strengthening fire of coral. Its energy is courage, vitality, and unshakable will, the warrior's lifeblood awakened and made steady. This mala is created especially for those advised, through their Vedic astrology, to wear red coral, and for all who long to draw the strength of Mars into their life.
At its heart hangs a premium Italian red coral pendant, genuine Corallium rubrum from the Mediterranean, the rarest and most precious coral in the world. It is carved in the sacred form of Moonga, the downward triangle, the very yantra of Mars. This triangular form is the recommended shape for wearing coral, for it focuses and dramatically amplifies the fiery, protective power of the planet, directing the energy of Mars with precision straight to the wearer. This is the true power centre of the mala. The pendant is available in two sizes and weights, a smaller and a larger form, so the wearer may choose the strength that suits them.
Crowning the mala sits a rare and genuinely valuable twelve millimetre pink Akoya pearl guru bead. Akoya pearls are prized above all others for their deep, mirror like lustre, and at twelve millimetres this is a rare and large example, a precious treasure in its own right. It carries the serene, cooling grace of the Moon to balance and temper the fire of Mars, a perfect union of strength and softness.
The mala is strung with one hundred and six coral beads and two sacred Rudraksha. The strung coral is genuine naturally sourced Taiwanese red coral, which carries the same warm red vibration of Mars, allowing the entire mala to be crafted in coral, while reserving the rare and precious Italian coral for the power centre where it matters most.
Red coral, or Moonga, is the supreme gemstone of Mars. For the one whose Mars is weak or afflicted in the birth chart, it restores physical stamina, sharp decision making, courage, and a strong, grounded sense of self. It builds confidence, drive, and discipline, dissolves procrastination and lethargy, and grants the impetus to carry every undertaking through to completion. It is a stone of protection, long worn as a shield against harm, and it is traditionally recommended to soften the challenges of Mangal Dosha in the chart. Coral is also said to support healthy blood, vitality, and recovery, the very lifeforce of Mars flowing strong.
The two Rudraksha woven through carry the very consciousness of Shiva, grounding all this fierce Martian power in stillness and devotion, so the wearer's strength is never raw or restless, but steady, centred, and wise.
Together, this alchemy is the disciplined warrior. Red coral awakens the fire, courage, and drive of Mars, the pink pearl cools and graces it with the Moon's serenity, and Rudraksha consecrates the whole in Shiva consciousness. This is for the one destined to move through the world with strength, purpose, and unwavering will.
The Charms
Each piece carries two sacred charms, custom designed to match the Shivoham logo. The crescent moon is the original, signifying Shiva's crescent moon and his mastery of time, past, present, and future, and the knower of all three. The round S charm is a later addition, marking the piece unmistakably as Shivoham, since our custom moon design has so often been copied. The S is for Shivoham, and has also come to be known as Shakti. Together the crescent moon and the S are Shiva and Shakti, sun and moon, masculine and feminine, a complete stamp of alchemy and wholeness.
A note on care: There is no need to cleanse this mala. It has already been blessed and consecrated. All you need do is enhance its energy by wearing it with reverence for your own sadhana and spiritual practice. The more you wear it, the more it will attune to you, supporting you to become one with its energy, as it becomes one with yours.
A note on caring for coral: Coral is a natural, organic material and should be treated with gentle care. Keep it away from perfumes, oils, cosmetics, and harsh chemicals, as these can dull its surface over time. Wipe it gently with a soft, dry cloth after wearing, and store it away from harder gemstones to protect its polish. Cared for with love, your coral will keep its beauty for many years.
Authenticity: Every piece arrives with a certificate of authenticity as a guarantee card, detailing weight and gemstones, signed off by a GIA qualified gemologist.
